Bundang Hall Layouts We See Every Quarter
Recurring rack and aisle patterns in Greater Seoul mining facilities at 0.05 PH/s and above, and their cooling consequences.
Our Seongnam office sits in Bundang-gu, so a disproportionate share of quarterly field work happens within an hour’s drive. Three hall layouts appear repeatedly — each with predictable cooling-path strengths and weaknesses.
Layout A: Single cold aisle, open hot aisle
Racks face inward; hot air exits to open room. Works when hall volume is large and ceiling height exceeds four meters. Fails when operators fill the hot aisle with storage or cable trays that block upward convection.
Review tip: Measure inlet temp at rack face and at floor level. Stratification shows up on summer afternoons before hash boards throttle.
Layout B: Contained cold aisle with ceiling return
Plastic curtains or rigid panels contain intake air. Efficient when seals are intact. Fails when curtains tear or panels leave gaps at rack tops — hot air spills into cold aisle at exactly the height hash boards breathe.
Review tip: IR scan along curtain top edge. Streak patterns there often precede fleet-wide throttle events.
Layout C: Rear exhaust to enclosed plenum
Neat cable management and quieter halls. Fails when plenum static pressure rises and weak fans on end racks stall first. Operators misread this as bad hardware luck.
Review tip: Compare fan RPM on end racks versus center racks at identical load. Divergence without firmware changes points to plenum choking.
